I have to print from my Clipper DOS application on the Netware printers, but not to queu, only to NDPS printer on the IP protocol.
Help me please...

Are you running the DOS app from DOS or from Windows? If it is from DOS, I think you will need to have a Queue that is serviced by the NDPS printer. If from Windows, I think you can capture an LPT port to a NDPS printer using a little piece of software from and there you should be able to print directly to NDPS without a Queue.

If you're using Windows and just running clipper under DOS... You can also capture an LPT port directly to the printer if you are running one of the newer Novell Clients. This TID talks shows you how:
But if that is not an option, (for example, you're only running DOS) the only other way I know of is to setup a Queue and configure the NDPS printer to service it. It's easy to setup and works really well. In fact, when I migrate an environment to NDPS, I use this functionality to my advantage because I can make the transition with very little distruption to their working environment.

Hi,
thank your for your respond
I'm trying DosPrint aplication to print without queu.. All its ok, but if I issue printer name (under this line) under the MS2000, when this printer printed good :

\\Grup_firm\.LJ5P_E411_DIfirm_Q.di-firm.centrala.firm

I received message: Wrong printer..
What happend ?

Marvin, the solution you are proposing only works for Win9x clients. This will not work for Win2k/XP. If you are running iPrint, then capturing a LPT port to a printer is easy using the iPrint client.

adios, please let us know from what OS you are trying to make this work. Also list the code you are using that generates the error.

I'm copy dosprint.exe to SYSTEM32 directory, next type "dosprint install" and "net start dosprint"
Operation system: Win2k
Command line: dosprint lpt1 LJ2100_E409_DIfirm.DI-FIRM.CENTRALA.FIRM
Error code: DOSPrint is not currently running.

Did you get a system tray icon for the DOSprint application? Can you capture a port via the GUI?

Try this syntax:
dosprint lpt1 \\tree_name\printer.context

eandres, yes, i thought the user the user was using Windows 9x since NT doesn't run DOS apps very well. That's what I get for assuming :)

Hi, guys!
I'm capture port via GUI and operate good, but during instalation NET START dosprint system generating message(NT4.0, Win2k) than don't find DEVICE..
Early I was copy Dosprint to system and capture printer, but program from DOS don't printed..
Where is mistake ?

Have you tried talking with the makers of DOSprint? They might be able to help you with their software better than us.

I think it's not possible, because this software is free and owner not supported them.
