When I start my computer, it boots up properly and starts all the programs in the startup file. The hard disk continues to run and after about a minute the computer freezes for 30 seconds and then continues to run properly. Any ideas on what is causing this freeze? The CPU usage appears to be 100% during the freeze and then drops back to a running usage. Thanks for any help you can give me. Ed

Go to Start/Run/type
msconfig
and hit enter.
Take out a couple of the programs in the Startup tab (uncheck them) and reboot...doing this until it stops...then narrow that one down even more.
Make sure IF you have Office apps installed that Find Fast is not running...better yet, take it off.
What virus protection do you have? Is that doing a scan at boot time?

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them all. Ed
