freeware ide or editor for python?

who knows of a nice freeware ide or editor for programming in Python?

Depends on what you mean by IDE. There is PythonWIn which is what I use on windows and Idle which is what I use on Linux, but neither of them is fully featured if you are looking for things like project and CVS integration. If you just want a good editor for Python, I think they are both excellent and they come with most Python distributions.
