Hi,
is there a free spell checker library I can use in a text field or form for instance?

Nothing in this life is ever free. You should know that by now. There are plenty of "free" spell checkers around, but by free I mean they are free by evaluation timespan only. I know Component One has a spell checker, and Im sure there are many many others, that are relatively inexpensive

Alternatively if you have M$ Word, you may well be able to utilise that via Automation as a spell checker.

i suppose some have not heard of open source software :)

Even OSS isn't always free -- sometimes you're limited by the GPL in what you can do with it.

I would suggest looking on Sourceforge.net
