Comments I have seen suggest that many AV products are struggling with Vista compatibility.
The mag I take even showed a screen shot of AVG free with the caption be careful what you choose to protect your Vista PC.

Will AVG Free work with Vista?

To be honest I am not thinking of upgrading from XP anytime soon!!

It's working for one of my colleagues at home, apparently! We have the corporate version here running perfectly fine on one Vista workstation. There were problems with the initial version, but it's fine now.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.
 
According to their compatibility chart (expand link "Details and Compatibility) - yes.
If memory serves it was their last major version release (v7.5) that introduced Vista compatibility.
