My CEO has an 800# that points to a voice mail box (Intuity) for Customers to leave messages and I have a aut-msg-wt light on her set that will turn on when a message is left. When she picked up her message there was a person speaking spanish and then the ringing of a phone for which someone picked up and these people carried on a conversation for 5 minutes. I have looked through my CAS to try and find where the call originated and where it went to. But my biggest concern is fraud. Where and/or what commands should I use to determine if this is the case? I have only been here 3 months and this was a new switch installed - G3si V11 just a month before I came. Thank you in advance for any assistance in this.

If this is a new switch, it should be under warranty and support. Have Avaya make sure that the Trunk to Trunk transfer is set to no or none in your Intuity. This is a great place for toll fraud. That will keep a caller from outside transfering out of Audix to an outside line.

Do you have anyone within your company that speaks spanish?
One thing that can happen is if someone had tried to call and got the voice mail but didn't want to leave a message, then hungup (switchhook flash) made another call and they ended up conferenced together. I have seen this many times, just had it happen to me this morning, checked a message and it was our hold music. One thing to do is make sure to listen to the header of the massage to have some idea where it comes from.

I've had that too bob with our hold music on a VM, anyone know how to prevent that?

The trick would be to get people to make sure they hang up before placing the next call, not just hit the switch hook.
The other way would be to eliminate switch hook flash on the system, problem there is analog phone users loose functions. On some types of analog phones there is also a switchable setting for positve switch hook, these phones will normally have a flash button also.

When you're connected to Audix, and want to leave Audix without Flashing or otherwise disconnecting (in a conference or something) press "Star Star X" (**9) to make Audix hang-up. This way you can continue you're conversation without having this conversation being left as an unwanted message...
Hope this helps

I suggest that you listen to the greetings to ensure that they are indeed valid greetings. Some hackers record a greeting that is a bit of a pause folowed by "Yes operator I accept the charges". This permits the callers to complete long distance calls on your dime.

Hope this helps
