Has anyone else had trouble once they've installed the Framework SP1? I installed it as part of my Windows online update. As soon as I tried to open an existing project I receive a CLR error; I could not open any existing projects without getting the error.

Ultimately I had to completely un-install VS.NET, delete some regestry keys it left behind, and re-install. I tried just re-installing the Framework but to no avail.

I'm curious to hear whether others have had trouble with this. I've since downloaded the SP on its own but am reluctant to install it given the time it takes to totally re-install .NET (assuming something might happen again).

No problems here. I downloaded the patch and installed it manually, though. FWI, I'm running W2K on a Pentium III.

good luck,
Mark

There's a particular hotfix that's been quite troublesome to the asp.net community. Could be affecting you?

if you see that installed as part of the update, you might try axing it alone from the add/remove interface.

hope it helps

I don't see that one listed in my Add/Remove programs, but then again I don't think all are listed there (those that can't be "un-installed" aren't). I'll take a look at the file you mentioned.

In the end I had to go through the ever-so enjoyable process of removing/re-installing VS.NET. If you ever have a couple of hours to kill this is great fun.

I've not installed the Framework SP1 (on its own, not part of a Windows update) as yet, kind of nervous to do so.
