frame-relay and point to point

hi guys
I have a problem distinguish frame-relay from point to point.and why is that?
i know the difference but while configuring sub-interface on frame-relay enabled encapsulation , cisco router ask you to specify whether i want point-to-point or multi-point .
what's going on?
