I have Nortel SL-1xt release 17 w/Meridian mail 12. the college is to go on break and a department with 25 phones wants them all their voice mails left in a communal mailbox to check over break. how can i set this up?
no, rls 12 only allows 8 to 10 secondary dn's in the same box, once that list is full it's done.. you could forward no answer to a station with sfd fna to mail and they should end up in the fdn mb on that rls
In Meridian Mail build all 25 DNs as individual entries in the SDN table with each routing via express messaging (EM) to the same voice mailbox. In that mailbox record the external greeting and not the recorded name/personal verification.
This will work as Meridian Mail when receiving a call looks to the SDN table for a DN match and than looks to the DN entries within mailboxes.
No changes need to be made to the existing mailboxes just remove all 25 SDN's after the Holidays.
A SL-1XT running release 17!!! One of the classics.
sounds like a reasonable work around, i have used the sfd method so that users going on vac can forward to a "group" mailbox.. that takes me out of the loop.
JP - I wasn't able to follow your train of thought but that don't mean anything. Over the years I have learnt that with the SL-1/M1/CSE1000 systems there are about five different ways to get the same thing done. And probably twice that when VoIP and server based applications are involved.
if i forward my phone to you, i do not have mail, you do, your class is sfd, my caller ends up in your mail box.. if you have sfa, my caller ends up in my mailbox, or goes to mail and the caller hears, that person does not subscribe.. and your right, 5 ways to do the same thing is a mim. what i usually do is find the quickest are the eaisest
John could you walk me through the load for this. I do not commonly use the command sfd. I looked at my info in my manual and i understand the the commands but could you tell them to me in order so i do not miss anything.
that is true for any cls mark, print any digital, the codes that end in a are allowed most of the ones that end in d are denied.. about 50 of them but the most common
fna (forward no answer allowed)
hta (hunt allowed) busy
mwa (msg waiting)
tdd ( tandem digit display) gives caller info on second line as well as 1st (add) allow digit display (key 0)
ira (incoming ringing line perferance)
phone rings pick up the handset, don't touch a button, works with lpk x with x =to the number of lines you need to answer on your set, they must be scr or mcr... ringing
cfta call forward by type, allows unique internal and external ring no answer treatment
cfxa call forward to an external line allowed
plus about 5 or 6 to make the display work both ways cdca nama ddga plus the defaults
another group is pua and gpua, pickup and group pickup, assign a rnpg and add a pickup key or gpu code in ld 57 for analog sets... good feature, if i hear another techs phone ring i can pick answer it from my phone.. i use it in the switchroom because i can hear my set ring but may be 40 ft away on the frame.. grab the frame analog and dial *5.. never hurts to read the cls marks and keys in ld 11, after 30 years i still find a new one now and them, usually scott letting me know i missed one..
