I have read other posts regarding the ability to forward over SIP trunks and it seems to be that the only real solution is to use a second SIP provider. However, before I present that as an option I wanted to find out if anyone has been able to get it working with a single provider. Other posts indicate changes to routers. I have tried this without success. In this case, it is an IP 500 release 5.0 (22) and the router is a SonicWall TZ200. If anyone has any configuration information to share using this hardware it would be greatly appreciated.

cmnstr,

Sonicwall has a fix now. I've tested and it works. You need to download firmware 5.6.2.1 which you can find on mysonicwall.com.

Are there any special port settings that need to be made to make forwarding work?

No.

Just ENABLE SIP Transformations on the Sonicwall, and then on the IP Office choose "Open Internet" for the firewall type.

I tend to agree with HSM. I haven't spent much time with SIP but I know it is best practice to disable H.323 Transformations on the SonicWall so it would make sense that SIP would follow the same rules.

You do NOT want to disable SIP transformations on the Sonicwall if that's your IPO's gateway to the internet.

Why don't you just try the suggestions here... upgrade your Sonicwall and I suggested, make some test calls. See if your audio problem is solved.

Then disable SIP transformations, REBOOT both the IPO and Sonicwall, and make some more test calls.

Post back for all of us to benefit from your testing.

unfortunately, if the h323 packets have been messed about with by some ALG / Transformation / Fixups / etc then the IPO really doesn't like it at all.

No luck after upgrading the firmware. Tried with SIP transformations checked and unchecked. When forwarding calls the call is made but there is no voice.

Tried to tick "Re-Invite" on the IPO?

Turns out the provider has two IP addresses and the one they originally provided was not passing media. Changed to their other IP and all is working. Only item not working properly is passing originating party caller ID when calls are forwarded. Forwarded calls are only passing the registration telephone number to the cell phone. When twinning is used the DID is being passed. Any thoughts on how to pass the calling party CID? I think I may have seen a previous post about this so I will have to do a search.

For sending original I'd we use the asterisk wild card URI in the sip trunk. Create a new URI and just put the * in the 3 boxes. Set this URI as a different outgoing trunk group and route forwarded calls through it.

cmnstr,

What was the final settings on the Sonicwall?

Upgrade the firmware or not?
SIP transformations checked or unchecked?

As previously mentioned, upgrading the firmware and changing the firewall settings did not solve the issue.
