I recently had a user whose calls are being forwarded to his cell phone when his extension is not answered report to me that he had about 15 voicemails waiting for him at the office. I thought it a bit odd, so I decided to test what was occurring.
When a phonecall comes to his number (which is a DID), it is then switched to his cell phone. It then rings there, and following the time in which the cell phone voicemail would pick up, the call appears to be routed back to the IP Office voicemail for the user.
I did a search of these forums, and the suggestions I found discussed modifying the No Answer Time or the Individual Coverage Time settings for the user. Both phones--the experiment with mine and this user--are on Verizon's network.
I did this in experimenting with my phone, and I met with some interesting results. I could hear the call begin to be answered by the cell phone's voicemail, but then the call was handed back to IP Office and my own voicemail.
If this is a known issue with Verizon as the carrier, should I just then setup the user such that they get an notification that they have new voicemail waiting for them?
Thoughts or opinions?
