Hi all,

Here's a thing I ran into yesterday. Customer is in Basic Mode, running 10.0.0.3.05, installed a month ago. I have only seen Basic mode able to forward call Unconditionally, whether it is to another extension or to a personal speed dial. When you view an extension in Status, it always shows the extension as forwarded Unconditionally.

This customer has no AA, all the lines cover to extension 10, but the call will forward to Extension 20 on no answer or busy. When I view the Extension in Status, it reads that the forwarding is on for no answer and busy. How is that possible in Basic Mode? Feature 11 is for forward unconditionally, as is programming a forward button. Is there a secret Feature Code that I am missing?

The original install tech did not set this up. Neither of us knew that it was possible.

Any suggestions? Other than put them in Standard, that is.

If you have an essential license then I would go standard mode, basic mode is a joke

Ok go to trunks/and see what the coverage destination is set to, maybe 1 of them is told to go to that extension if I am understanding you correctly

Hi Joe2938,

Yes the coverage destination for the trunks is set to Extension 10, which works, the call can be answered there, but if not answered, or busy, it forwards to Extension 20. As far as I know, in Basic Mode, that should not be possible.

Ok if you call extension 10 from an intercom does it go to extension 10 voicemail of does it immediately forward to extension 20

Do they show the line appearances? If so, is x20 set to delayed ring? What about coverage? Is 20 set to cover 10 manybe?

They have 4 POTS lines, no AA, and no need for anything beyond Basic Mode.

The reason you are having difficulty getting any assistance with this is because any experienced IP Office tech simply will not touch Basic mode (Universally known as muppet mode for good reason).

Even in this scenario I would NEVER install muppet mode. customers requirements evolve & changing to Standard mode means the customer has to learn how to use their system all over again.

even when the customer does not evolve Muppet Mode is so brain dead that even features expected by the most basic of users are either unavailable or difficult to operate (as your original post demonstrates).

It is like buying a new car but then only driving it with the Valet Key.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

You could also post this in the correct forum. There is a Avaya:IP office partner edition forum which is specifically for basic/partner mode. You posted in the "regular" IP office forum which 90% of the people here refuse to touch basic mode because it is terrible.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
