Incoming mail works fine to my main exchange server. For a reason i won't go into I have several people's mailboxes on another exchange server. They are able to send emails fine, but not recieve.

I assume I need to do something to tell the main exchange server to forward mail to the other if the mailbox doesn't exist.

Can anyone give me any pointers?

Thanks

I am having a simliar issue, I just brought up a new Exchange 2000 Server, our current server is Exchange 5.5. I migrated a few accounts over from within our department just so we could test it for a few days but I can only send Email externally or to other accounts on that server, I cannot get email in, i am sure there must be a way to forward anything that bounces out of the one server to the other but I haven't forund it yet.

Please describe your environment a little more. Are these 5.5 or 2000?

In my case the original exchange server is 5.5 and as of now contains all but a few test accounts that have been migrated over to the second server, which is exchange 2000. I would like to migrate the IT departments accounts over and leave bot servers up for a few weeks for testing purposes before I migrate everyone. Both are in the same domain.

wsahaydak,

Are you running AD on either of the exchange servers?

How do you have your Recipient Connection Agreements configured between your 5.5 server and your AD DC?

ADC is running on the 2000 server, Active Directory is running on another server. The Exchange 5.5 server is NT 4.0 so obviously that is also not running AD.

I'm not sure where to look at the Recipient Connection Agreements, basically when bringing up the Exch.2000 server we choose the option that we had an existing Exchange server, put in the name, and took the defaults.

Then it's likely that you haven't configured any agreements and that is likely what's preventing your servers from seeing mailbox accounts on the other. Have you open Active Directory Connector Management and looked at how that's configured?

I think you have a small project in front of you to get the directory replication working properly.
