Is forwarding to an external number possible on a NORSTAR? We recently upgraded to 7.0 and a user wants to forward to a 2nd location when they are away from their desk. If it is possible, how do I do this?

You must program Allow Redirect as Y. You need to be using routing. You then press Feature 4 or Call Forward and enter 9 and the number.

Best way to to do transfer is to change analog lines to PRI.

The site in question does NOT have PRI or DID. The site is small enough that there is no cost savings in moving to PRI, so we didn't. The user has an extension from the main number. Sounds like this is not going to be possible?

Read what DigitalD stated, It is very possible and works fine. Allow redirect to Y, Build a route 001 to use Pool A, Place lines in Pool A, build a destination code of 9 to point to route 001. From the set you wish to forward, Feature 4, 9 then the dial string exactly how you would dial it, press ok or hold if smaller set. Featuer #4 to cancel. This will work like a champ from 4.1 on up.

The only drawback to using POTS is that it will tie up 2 CO's, unless you're using centrex lines, and then you would just use the LEC's forwarding code on that line.

Just had a question on this subject as serenitynow109 stated :Line Redirection works great if the user has a line that is private to their set.
If the enduser is just an employee that wants only the calls transferred to HIM from reception, this wouldn't work correct?
Line Redirection, redirects all calls into this number to where ever its destination (external number)the customer adds...
So for my clarification, it wouldn't work on a per extension basis.....

Correct line redirection is used to redirect a line not for use to forward an extension.

Ok... what if I want an extension to forward to an outside number all the time?

We need to allow CCR or a real person who answers our phones to send calls to our on-call tech's cellphone.

The idea here is that (for example) extension 29 will be used to reach the on-call tech's cellphone. I need to program ext 29 to do all this automatically so all we have to do is have the user pick 29 from the CCR or have the real attendant transfer to ext 29. We don't have centrex and know this will tie up one more of our 5 lines.

We would need to change the cell phone number that the forwarding goes to every week... will this be easy to do? Any of it?

Thanks!

nortelnewb, very easy to do using CCR, select transfer as the option and then specify the line/pool # and the tech's cell number. If you are using web-based callpilot management you can show anyone how to do this from their PC. The call will tie up 2 lines (one for the incoming call and one for the system to make the outgoing call to the tech).

In the future when you have a question please start your own thread, do not hijack someone else's thread.

PainOfDeath, thanks for the good news..

I have not got an ethernet connection to the CP100 yet but plan to do so. When you say to setup CCR, are you talking about the CCR in the CISC or another version of it in the CP100? I am not sure of the steps to take to make this happen.

I have 5 lines that I want answered by Auto Attendant after 3 rings. Then I want them to be able to dial anyone's extension to get the person or have it transfer to voicemail. One of the CCR options will be to dial ext 28 to reach the on-cal tech. I need to tell the system that ext 28 (no phone on that pair) needs to forward to the number I provide weekly.

Could you walk me through this and what I need to do? I would be seriously in your debt. We could do this offline but others would likely benefit from your direction.

Thanks... (I would have started this reply in a new thread but I did not know how to get you there).

All of the programming your talking about is on the Call Pilot. You need to go under AA and build a greeting table. That's where you tell what lines to get answered by what greeting and in how many rings. Then you go to CCR and build a tree. Once the AA answers it's automatic you can dial anyones ext. It also has a built in Directory, by pressing #.

You don't want to tell people to press 28 for the tech. You'll want to say. Plz press (1 thru 9) your choice. They are called Paths. So, make 5 the option and build path 5 as a transfer, than pick external, and enter the #.

It's WAY easier using the GUI.

Good Luck.
