Hi, Im wanting to add a forum | message board to my site .
and i wondered if anyone knows any good free ones out there, that would work with asp net 2.0 and sql.

I would like to code it myself but dont know where to begin. So i thought there might be some example code etc that someone knew about that i could look at to get ideas and see how it works.

Thanks in advance .

Do a search for ASP.NET Starter Kits. There is one called 'portal' but i am not sure that it is for forums. Anyway start this on your own; it is a challenge. Get the idea on how/where will the text will be saved. Ofcource it will have membership, maybe an option of email notify of anwears ... :)

too much? You do not loose anything for a try! I'll try my own too.

Regards

Just a tidbit. I am getting ready to face this same problem. My first inclination was to go with php, which of course is universal, free, and customizable. I have been told that there exists an "asp" discussion forum which is top notch but cannot remember the name (should be easy enough to find).

And don't forget Haloscan for general commenting - its free, reliable and very fast etc -- and you don't have to database the comments themselves (though not technically a formal discussion forum per se).

By the way, the above site I linked to has a free edition you can use.

ca8msm: nice site; what I like about it is that it is built using ASP.NET. Definitely going to take a close look at this (I have a discussion forum project coming around the corner).
