How would I write a formula to enter Today's date in Column L when a number is placed in Column M? What I want is when I enter mileage in column M, Excel will automatically put today's date in column L. I do not want the date to change each day, just when I put a mileage in the first time.

That cannot be done formulatically. The formula =TODAY() will give you today's date. But that formula is, by its very nature, dynamic - that is, it will change every day.

you could copy, paste special > values every day, but you don't want to do that.

'formulatically' should read 'formulaically'
