Hello everyone. I need some help with a formula and I don't know if this is possible. I have a spreadsheet with an "Amount" column and an "Initials" column. I need to total the dollar amount in "Amount" column based on the person's Initials in the "Initials" column and put those results on a different worksheet. So the problem I have is how do is search through a column for certain initials to total. Can this be done with excel? Thanks in advance.

Please look at sumif function in Excel.

or

If you sort your data by initials, you can use the Subtotal command under Data menu

Member- AAAA Association Against Acronym Abusers

OR possibly look at Pivot Tables, which if your data is in the right format, will make this a breeze.

Or the SUMPRODUCT formula as appears in FAQ68-4725

If I wasn't Blue, I would just be a Dragon...

I tried the sumif function and it worked great. Thanks everyone for your quick response.
