Hi

I'm attempting to replace a character in User Objects with no character. (sounds strange huh?) I would have thought that using the following would work : ".", "" and it certainly works fine when i enter it in as a variable in the Results. Why won't it work in User Objects?

Many Thanks

Thanks Steve

Presumably this means that I can only perform a limited number of basic functions in user objects and will have to perform the rest in the data variables when I've processed the results? The only reason this would be a problem is that I'm setting up templates for other business users and user objects (once set up) limits the user involvement

Huwt,

User objects are meant as a last resort to bend the tool further to your needs.

Stay away from them if you are generating generic reports that others will use.....

So to finalise (to make sure that I've understood!) Its impossible to use the replace function in User Objects where you wish to simply remove a character from the string? Is there any other way of doing this without actioning it in the variables screen

Really appreciate your help on this!

Thanks

Huw

Huwt,

Why not use the database equivalent of the BO reporter function as Steve pointed out.

Most databases have similar functions to work with....
