Hello.

I have a problem whenever I try to install any version of Windows on Compaq machines. After I format the hard drive and use the Recovery Disk that comes with these computers, I get a message that says "the files needed to copy Windows to the hard drive are not present. Call the computer's manufacturer", (or something like that). I got that message when I tryed using the recovery disk before formatting, so I dont know what could be the problem. Also, when I try to install Windows (not the recovery disk) on any of these Compaq machines the process stop's after a while and the OS can't be installed. I guess it is a kind of lock they use, but I dont know how to erase the information that locks the hard drive. I know it can be done because, I took the machine to a computer shop near my house and they installed Windows on the computer, so if anybody knows how to resolve this problem, please let me know.

The compaq bootdisk & compaq restore cd are usually
configured to work together. Try booting with both inserted.
If you use a Win98 bootdisk with a compaq restore cd or a compaq bootdisk with a Win98 cd you will usually encounter problems.
