Hello,

My company recently got a new PC that came with WinXP Pro instead of W2K Pro, which is what we wanted. So I've the W2K Pro disks and I'm ready to install it fresh. But before I format the HD, I'm wondering if there is anything I should do differently or something of which I should be especially aware. Having extremely limited experience with both XP and W2K (always done W9x PCs) I want to be sure that this doesn't go badly. I'll appreciate thoughts and comments from you more experienced users.

Thanks.

Brian

If you FDISK and then format as you would with a new hard drive you will not run into any problems. During your setup for W2K using that disk you will then get the option to convert the hard drive to NTFS if you want.

Actually if you use fdisk and remove all partitions W2K will allow you to create partitions and format them during the install.

Thank you to epohl and bgauntt for your suggestions. The conversion went fine once I realized that the W2K CD actually worked as a boot disk, too. (It's always the simple things that get me!) So far there are no issues whatsoever, but, it's been up and running for less than a week so there is plenty of time for that. Thanks again for the helpful comments and suggestions.
