Hi,
I am having no luck formatting a chart for 11x17 paper.

I've played with Stretch, Zoom, Clip and cannot get the chart to fill the whole area.

I have also tried setting the chart height and width from vb, but the same results.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem.

Put the chart into design view, select the chart.

Select the format tab of properties, and set the width and heigth [say 12" X 8"].

Click on File menu then Page Setup. Select papaer size = legal, and orientation [I presume] as landscape.

Done.

Well, I wish it was that simple. When I expand the graph to fit 11x17, it seems to truncate the graph back to 8.5 x 11. In design view I can stretch the graph and it looks ok.

Flip it back to print preview and the chart looks sized correctly in terms of font size, etc but it still truncates at about 11" in width. I have done the format tab thing and also set the size from vb and I get the same results.

I have tried line and scatter with the same results. I'm wondering if there is some kind of limitation on the graph object itself. I tried a couple graphs from scratch and the same problem. So maybe some types of graphs you can't size up?

I thoght there might be an autozize switch or something but have not found anything yet.

Hi.

Select the chart (design mode)

File/page Setup -- Page Tab: Paper Size - select 11 x 17.

Hi, if I select 11x17 in page setup I get 11x17 paper, of course. The problem is that the graph will not stretch to 11x17 without losing part of the graph. The graph truncates at 11" wide. I can get @ 11" tall.

It will stretch while in design view and looks fine in design view.

When I switch to print preview I see 11x17 paper with a truncated graph sized 11 x 11.

Out of curiosity I built another chart using the wizard and the same results. It will look fine in design view but as soon as I flip to print preview.

I thought maybe it had something to to with auto sizing or something along those lines.

Is there a command avaliable like me!graph.autosize = False available?

Thanks

Did you switch to LANDSCAPE?

Well, yes. It has been 11x17 landscape, with a printer attached fully capable of printing same since I started the thread.

I know how to set up a printer and page for 11x17. That is not the issue.

The issue is the graph will stretch and look fine in design view. In print preview the graph itself truncates to about 11".

The graph border does fill the 11 x 17 sheet. The graph itself does not. As I said, stretch it in design view and the graph looks fine. Go to print preview and the stretch does not 'stick'. It reverts back to @ 11" in width.

This is not a page setup problem. This is some kind of graph sizing problem where the graph will not stretch to fill 15" - with 1" margins.

Hello, this is kind of interesting. I can easily create an 11 by 17 chart in Excel and it prints correctly. I spent some time attempting to replicate a chart in Access and am experiencing similar problems with the larger paper size. Not quite as easy as Excel, is it.

Hello, I worked with the chart a little more and it seems the largest size I am able to obtain and retain the entire chart is 11 by 11.

There are some ActiveX controls for charts that might work for you. Beyond that I cannot comment. Perhaps someone else can assist.

You say you are seting the height and width via VBA. Did you try to manually set these properties? Then save the form?

I tested this, and seemes to be no problem... not sure what the issue might be on your system.

Good Morning. I think I have a solution for you. If you are creating the chart using the Insert Chart with the Icon, try this.

Open a report.

Select Insert Object and select Chart.

Set the chart to stretch and do the usual page setup.

This worked for me. What difference there is if any, I do not know. I am using Access 2002.

Well I'll be. That actually worked! I don't know why though but I won't argue with success.

Same chart object, I think. The chart area stretched out and actually stayed.

Thanks much, Dan
