Hi all,

I have created a continuous form with a query as it's recordsource. Auto resize is set to yes.

The problem I am having is that at the bottom and to the right of the form I am getting a lot of empty space. When I go into design view and look at my header, detail, and footer sections, they are all small and to size.

What I am finding is that when I modify the size of the form design view window, the form in view mode comes out the same size as the window in design view.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?

Thanks,
Owen

Try setting Auto Resize to No and size your form in design view to what you want and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply Glohamar.

I've tried what you said and it makes absolutely no difference. Teh form still opens with whatever size the window in design view had. If I maximize the form in design view and then enter form view, the form is maximised - If I make the form very small so that only part of a text box in the top left hand corner is seen in design view then the same is seen in form view.

Any more ideas?

Are you modify the form itself (grey background) or are you modifing the window? With Auto Resize set to no you should be able to resize the window of the form and the form open to the size, extra space and all. Now you will have extra space if you have the scroll bars on and the navigation buttons on. Try setting Auto Resize back to Yes, set Scroll Basrs to Niether, and Navigation Buttons to No and see if that helps.

My form is 8cm long and 4 high. I can then drag the window of the form in design view to any size I want without touching my form size. Then in full form view the form appears not 8cm by 4cm, but the full size I dragged the window in design view mode.

I have the following set:
Default view - continuous form
views allowed - form
scroll bars - neither
Record selectors - no
navigation butons - no
dividing lines - no
autoresize - yes
autocenter - yes
border style - none
control box - no
min max buttons - none
close button - no

Which version of Access are you using?

I took a look at some forms I have that are Continuous and noticed that I have some blank space at the bottom, like about an inch. Is this what you are seeing?

I'm using Access 2000. I could have an inch at the bottom of my forms if I resized the window to that size in design view......In order to test what's happening - I've increased the number of resultant rows in my form - i.e. where I was getting 3 lines of data from my form, I'm now getting 30. What I've found is that the form is not resizing to fit the 30 rows. When I then manually add scroll bars, I can scroll down through the rows.

It looks like the resive option is not working for some reason.

What I've also done is changed the colour of the footer, detail, and header in order to find out which is adding the extra space into the form. I've found it's the header adding the space! - I'm baffled!!

I was having some of the same problems and I figured out if I make Border Style:Sizable, put my form in Form View, put it where I want it and size it how big I want it; immediately go back to Design View. Close form which will ask if you want to save and say yes. When you open it should be like you want it. I'm still having trouble with form sizes and positioning so I understand your frustration. JL

I first display my form in Form view and resize it to what I want. Then I go into Design view and change Border Style to Thin. I then have a macro with one action - Restore. Then on the On Open event of each form, I place this macro. Seems to do the job.

Thanks for the tips guys. Will try them and get back.
