Form based on query but want empty form on opening

I have a form that is based on multiple queries and once opened uses a combobox to be able to select from other queries. At present it opens with what appears to be a default value in the combo box.
As the query runs on quite a large amount of data it takes a fair old time for it to open. Ideally I would like the form to open up with a null value for the combo box, but as a self taught and relatively inexperienced database designer I just cannot fathom it out.

Can't work out why the query is running just because it is in a combo box. Is the form's RecordSource set to the query by default when you open up the form?

Yep the RecordSource is set to the query.

Now I've had a little bit more thought on the matter. It may be that its the sub-form on the page that's giving me the probs.
