Is there a way to reset the password in a protected sheet without knowing the original password?

Hi,

We do not support password cracking at Tek-Tips. You'll have to look elsewhere.

I'm sorry - please do a search on Google or similar - these questions are not answered on this site any more due to possibilities of hacking / malpractice

In short, it is possible but only via running code yourself or getting a web Co. to crack the password for you. the former requires slight VBA knowledge (and a Google search), the latter requires finding a company and parting with about £25

Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working. Windows is like that.

While my intentions are innocent I can see where these kind of questions could lead to mis-use.
Please accept my apologies.

No apology needed and if you do a google search you should find quite a few hits

Have you considered simply copying the data, and pasting into a new worksheet? It sounds like you have a simple worksheet protection turned on.

Sometimes the solution is so simple you look right past it.
The sheet had password protected hidden columns, C&P worked like a charm!
