Foreign Characters in iNotes not recognized

I am running iNotes Web Access (R5) and when I get an e-mail from a country that uses foreign characters, I am unable to access my inbox. I get an Internet Explorer Error message: Error encountered retrieving data. Click the browser's refresh button to reload the page. I tried to replace the design to inotes 6 but that doesn't work either.
Can anyone help?
