i can't get a .out file to execute. I know i used to be able to force them to execute with a couple of characters before their name, like
% ./ name.out
or
% .& name.out
Or something like that. I can't remember the exact characters now. It's a Sun 5.7 system.
can anybody help me??????????

Did you check the permissions? Besides using ./a.out or .&a.out you might try source a.out [sig]<p>Jon Zimmer<br><a href=mailto:b0rg@pcgeek.net>b0rg@pcgeek.net</a><br><a href= Aetea Information Technology</a><br>The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.<br>

<i>source a.out<i> doesn't seem to be working.

yes i did check the permissions, sorry i forgot to mention that. It's rwx all the way down, so it should execute.

Thanks very much for trying, d3funct.

anyone else??????

Jim, you should be able to run an executable program with

./a.out

if you are in the same directory as the program

&quot;rwx all the way down&quot; -- go check that again <grin> [sig]<p>Mike<br><a href=mailto:michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com>michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com</a><br><a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site</a><br> [/sig]
