Force Word doc to open in Word rather than IE

Hi,

Have a Word doc on a SharePoint page - how can I force this to be opened in Word rather than IE when it is clicked on the SharePoint page?

Open Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types. Find the doc extension, select it, click on Advanced and untick Browse in Same window. You can do this for xls, ppt as well if you like.

I dont know how to default this behaviour, if anyone knows a group policy for it or Registry hack please post.

Office version 2002 SP3.

Browse in same window is already unticked.

You need to use Office 2003 for the check-out/check-in/Edit in Word functionality of SPS2003.
