Hello,

Is there anyone who knows how to force Business Objects to treat a column 'Year' as dimension instead of a measure?

When I create a new dataprovider directly from an excelsheet the column year is treated as a measure (2002 etc are numbers). I need this however as a dimension to link to another dataprovider which also provides year as a dimension.

When I change 2002 into Y2002 and rename the field as Yyear, B.O. will see it as a dimension. This would work, but I would need to create such a object in the universe of the other data-provider.

Anyone another idea?

I don't think you can force this when you 1st create the data provider but you can set the Variable in the report.

Click on the "View Data" button (Cube Icon on the top tool bar), select the Year variable, go to the "Definition" tab and set it to a Dimension.
