font not printing

I have some fonts I got free from quark when I upgraded to 6.5. I like some of them and they print fine when they are in a pdf, but if I print straight to our postscript printer (HP laserjet 8100), they do not print, it gives a replacement courier type font. could it be because these fonts are ot, (open type?)?
I am using osx panther and am also using suitcase.

yes, possibly the printer can't handle this new type of font.
What PS level is you printer?
Has the firmware been updated to the latest version.

Do the font print ok without the ligatures.

I called QuarkXpress yesterday and after working with me for over an hour they told me to see if I could get an updated printer driver. I haven't checked on that yet, since this model is discontinued. I guess I will have to make pdf's for certain fonts.
