Okay, this may seem like a silly question to ask, but under what conditions would the conditional formatting box for the font color disappear? I have a number of fields in my (CR9) report that I need to change color conditionally.

I'm fairly sure that there is supposed to be a X2 button next to the font color drop-down in the format editor. However, its not there - nothing showing to the right of the font color box.

What could cause it to be missing? Is there a way to get it back, or does anyone know of an alternate way to format font color conditionally? Thanks!

Try posting the data type of the object you're trying to conditionally format.

Right click it and select browse data to learn what Crystal thinks it is.

Well, in this case, I'm actually just looking at a text box - although there will be other fields eventually.

I'm actually wanting to change all the fields in a section conditionally based on the content of a certain field - so that as the detail section repeats, it will be a different color for each repeat. The formula's not really a problem, its just finding the box in which to place it that's causing a bit of an issue. Honestly, I don't know where it went - does it not appear in a text box?

No, text objects won't provide that, change to using FORMULA fields for the text objects, as in:

Thanks! What an easy (albeit slightly pesky) fix! I'll remember that info for next time!
