Hi All:

I have setup a network at my home with a Windows 2000 Server to help me learn a little more about Windows 2000 Server.

I am trying to setup a shared folder, and would like to set a maximum size limit on the folder. Does anyone know if there is a way, and if yes how to do this?

TIA!!

I know of only one way not saying that this is the only answer though. Decide on the size that you want the folder and then put quota limits on the users that have access to the share.

For example

10 users have access and you do not want the folder over 500 MB then put a quota limit of 50 MB for each user or groups of users.

Like i said it is probably not the only way just the only one i can think of off the top of my head. I will see if i can find anything else Thanks

Erik,

I am still learning. How do I put a quota limit on a user....is that for each share or a maximum for that user on the entire network? Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help!!

i mistated some info though you put quotas on the drive not the folder. so if you are using a separate drive for data which should be the case.(dont mix data with system files if possible)

Go to the help in Windows 2000 and enter disk quotas all your info should be there.

post another reply if you need anything Thanks
