My boss would like to redirect "My Documents" folders from the local machines (Windows XP Pro) into the share drive. Our server OS is Linux (Ubuntu). I am not familiar with Linux but my question is, how can I redirect folders to the share drive? Any tools or documentation? Thanks in advance.

I assume that you're already using Samba for the 'share drive'. So the short answer is to configure Samba & your clients appropriately. The long answer is considerably more involved, depending on how your network is currently configured. You might want to read here and then dig into forum865.

Once you have the share all set and ready to go
IE Windows sees it and can access it
You can move the "My Documents"folder in a couple of ways.
1.) Be sure you have a parent level diretory created first on the share
IE z:\share\Documents
then right click on "My Documents" and enter the new location in the "Target folder location" box.
IE z:\share\Documents\My Documents.
2.) Change the registry setting:
Find This key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\
Within that section, look for "Personal" entry. It should have "C:\My Documents" as its value - if you havent already moved it. Update this value with the new location. (same cautions as above)
You will have to log off/reboot before Windows will see this change.
This method can also be set up so that you have the new key all set in a "mydocs.reg" file. This file can be moved to all of the Windows boxes and be merged in (saves having to open regedit on each system).
This will work for a single user. If you plan on moving your entire userbase to this standard, additional steps will need to be taken to make sure user A's "My Documents" dont overwrite user B's.
