Hi guys,

Ok, We have got group policies setup for 3 OU's (Staff, Newdeal, Training).

The policys are pretty much the same on each OU for now, except that each one will redirect the users my docs depending on their Security Group. (i.e. Training -> \\ictserv\training\)

All the settings are still there in the group policy to redirect, but when the user logs on the my docs is linked locally.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Damon

OK, so if there is no difference in the GPRESULT then you need to take a second look at the folder permissions because the policy is being applied but failing somehow. My guess would be on the permissions.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Ok, but surely the user wouldnt be able to access their my documents folder on the server if it was a problem with permissions?

Hmm, a valid point unless the user isn't mapping via the share first.

Check the Share Permissions as that is what the Folder Redirection Policy will start with.

This is an interesting (and I am sure frustrating) problem.

Thanks.

I will check the share permissions tommorrow morning.

It certainly is annoying, i mean jesus how many posts have we gone thru so far!? lol

Thanks for all your input anyway! Its much appreciated!

Regards

Damon

The share permissions for \\ictserv\newdeal are:

Everyone = Full Control
newdeal = Full Control
Administrators = Full Control

The security for \\ictserv\newdeal are:

Administrators = Full Control - This folder, subfolders.
newdeal = List Folder / Read data - This folder only
System = Full Control

The folders within them are inheritable enabled.

Within NewDeal what rights should the newdeal group have? That is what I would set on the folder and I would add everyone with just List for This Folder Only.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Hey Mark,

Found out the reason for all this hassle I think! *crosses fingers!*

Folder Redirection failed due to the error listed below.

This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.

Surely when the user logs on for the first time and creates a folder on the server, they are the owner? Something must have changed. So no I just change the users to be the owners of there folders?

Hope this works!

Damon

Good luck! I hope that does it for you.

Absolutly Brilliant!

It works... heh, I do have some recollection of changing the ownerships before due me/admins not being able to access folders. Until I found out about proper use of permissions! :D

Anyway thanks for all your help mark, been a long one!

All the best

Damon

Glad we can put this one to rest!
