I have 80 to a 100 thousand property photos that I would like to display over the internet. I have an Access table that links the names of the photos to a point in space via the parcel number. Will I encounter any problems accessing the photos with an *.asp page that only displays one of the photos, if I throw them all into one folder. The alternative is to divide them up into 13 townships. One of the townships could have as many as 36 thousand photos in it though.

From what information I could find on the subject, I should have no space limitations to storing a hundred thousand files in one folder using Windows 2003 Server. And while viewing the folder with Windows Explorer will be a time consuming pain (if even possible), my biggest concern is if this will affect my performance in opening a specific file via the internet.

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

You should have no problems with your web application. Since it will not be "browsing" the folder, it does not have to retrieve the entire file list to get the file. It will simply request the file from the FS, if it doesn't exist, then an error will come back.
