Floppy Icon Missing

If theres no floppy icon it means XP cannot detect it. Which is bad.
Shut down, go into bios and see if it is detected. If not power off, and check the connections.
If a floppy got stuck and you had to be a little less than gentle (i.e. beat the stuffing out of it) then its probably broken.
