I am looking at a computer for a coworker. When examining "my computer" (Windows 98) the Drive A is not working and she has a Drive D showing as the floppy drive.

I am trying to figure out whay has coaused this and how i repair it. It also appears she has lost some of the colors. Is there way to test if the video card is bad or if the mainboard has taken a power surge?

Any help in this would greatly be appreciated.

dear , can u check into the bios setup the floppy drive is configured as 1.44" floppy drive .if it is correct try to format a diskette by going to windows command prompt.if it is very time is showing as abort, retry, fail there is some complaint with your floppy drive .the color problems will come may be due to the problems with the monitor, like monitor cable.when windows starts look to the windows98 display, from there u can find the color which is missing.if this helped u to solve the problems, please give me a reply at shebeer@yahoo.com

I have found the monitor is a problem as far as the color goes. I have heard that if I go into the BIOS I should set the floppy drive to none because this PC has an LS120 drive instead of a floppy drive. However when I did this the PC is showing a 5 1/4 floppy.

Any ideas.
