I just built a new machine and all works fine, except the 1.44 floppy. The bios has the floppy listed correctly, and it shows up under Win98. When I try to read a disk, It states the floppy is not the right format and attempts to format it, but it fails and says the disk is faulty. I can read and format the same disk in my laptop. If I boot the machine in safe mode, I can read the disk. Win98 says it is using the standard floppy disk controler.

Thanks

There are 2 places in the BIOS that have to be set up for the floppy. One place is an indication that floopy is a boot device and another place is the type of floppy you have. Sometimes it gets set to no floppy and will not work. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.
