I can't get my floppy drive to work. It will sound like it is working but it won't read the files on the floppy. the hour glass shows until it says that "a" is not accessible. I added another parallel card last night but did nothing to connections or memory. Everything else is fine. What happened all of a sudden? I did see that when attempting to run the maintenance wizard it said that there was not enough memory....i'm running 512mb. All programs were closed.

There shouldn't be any conflicts between a parallel card and floppy drive, but does it work if you take the port out? Whilst you are in there, double-check the ribbon cables and memory modules are properly seated. What does the bios report as being installed?

I know this seems obvious, but did you try other floppies to make sure you weren't trying to access a corrupted disk. Try testing the same disk in another pc.

If the light on the drive is coming on, but it gives you the error that "A: is inaccesible", then either the floppy is bad or the drive needs cleaned...

Suggest you try checking the drive at the DOS level before starting Windows. After setting the BIOS to boot off the floppy drive first (also check correct sized FDD is shown for the A: drive, e.g. 1.44Mb), insert a known good (clean) system disk. Does it boot? If not, change cable, then change drive. Do ensure that machine is switched off, and then switched on again to boot to the floppy drive - this will ensure you don't have a virus which is preventing the floppy drive from being accessed...
