I have a 2620, not an XM, but I bought a new 32MB flash, but it says it's for 2620XM---I tried to load an IOS and it says "insufficient flash"...is this because the flash mod is not compatible with my router? Thanks.

If you do a show ver, how much flash does it show you have? it sounds like the IOS you are trying to load needs more then 32MB of flash.

A lot of the older 2620's cannot handle extra memory because of their architecture, hence Cisco releasing the XM series (Extended Memory). From what I've seen most 2600 can only handle 16mb of flash, but I've seen some with 32mb...
At my company, we ended up replacing all of our 2620's with 2620XM's just because of the newer IOS's being to big. I think you may be out of luck.

Well, the IOS is 29MB, saw64, and it has a 32MB flash in it, but it's for XM...the image won't load, so I cannot do a sh ver, unless you know of some trick to get it to do it in rommon...
I agree, voltron---maybe I am out of luck---I have advanced security running on it, which is 15.xx MB, and I was trying to load advanced enterprise, which is 29MB. What I wanted really is an IOS that will allow me to do TCP intercept, because I am building a lab to practice for CCIE R&S and Security. Know what IOS supports TCP Intercept? Actually, I will start a thread for that. Thanks guys...this is a good site.
