Flash fading symbols help please

Im using Macromedia Flash MX and trying to do some simple fading in/out of text that is a symbol. Now when I play it on my work area, the text fades in and out exactly the way I want, but for some reason when I go and test the movie the text simply disapears and reapears with no fading effect. I have read several tutorials on the subject and they all tell me to do exactly what I did. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't remember what it's called in Flash MX (I'm using 2004 myself), but look for something along the lines of "Embed Font Outlines" (in 2004, it's in the text Properties >> Character >> "Embed font outlines for..."). That should allow for text alphas in previewed movies.
