Here's my black hole..I don't get the Flash to Dreamweaver hook up.

I understand you publish the fla into html and swf and then embed in DW files.

But I have a little splash movie that I want to open, play, stop and then go to a main menue type html DW file.

It seems that there are all sorts of ways to link various DW files via the property inspector but there does not seem to be a function of linking fla, either html or swf to a html file.

I'm under the idea that you have to do that with actionscripting commands in the original fla. before publishing. Am I right there? If I'm right, I'm not getting it. I do a stop goTo URL and insert the document name as the URL. What I get in my browser is a long list of all my files in the site folder.

What's this fla/dw functioning called so I can research it or buy a book?

Thanks Friends

Huck555, I'm not sure if this will help but last year when I was a student a created a site for an assignment. I had a short flash movie as an intro to my DW site. When I created the flash movie I included an "enter" button so that after the movie played the user could click on it and enter the site. To import the flash movie (after the DW site was created) I simply used the little flash icon on the DW toolbar, scrolled for the file and inserted the movie. Then I programed the "enter" button to go to my DW index page.(this was done using the regular method for creating buttons in DW-no action scripting, etc.) It worked. The little movie played, "enter" appeared, you clicked on "enter" and there you were on the index page of the site. Does this help? Good luck

Hey madev..

Thanks for your great post. Yeah, that was an option I was toying with and will probley use within the site, but turns out I worked it out.

What I learned was: that at the end of the fla. movie I entered a stop action and a gotoURL action.

I'd like to send it to you the beta (it's pretty small). It's my first finished animation and although it is a total Hillman Curtis rip off, I learned alot and I like it.

What I'm struggling with now is linking and browser bugs.

Are you uo on Dreamweaver?

Again thanks
Stephen

I'm probably a little more up on flash than dreamweaver. I just finished school and have done a few sites for people. I did a site in dreamweaver for a minister and sent it to her because she wanted to put it up it herself but I don't know what happened with that yet.I'm in the process of doing a site for a concierge. The client is currently out of town but I do have a "under construction" page up for now. That was done in DW. it's at dudleyconcierge.com (not much there though-just "coming soon...") Hillman Curtis is great! My last teacher was a big fan so we checked him out a lot. In his book there is a list of helpful websites (towards the back) some of them have helpful tips for flash users. Check it out.
