Flash Disk suddenly goes read only

Suddenly the flash disk I have been using for the last year has decided it is going to be read only and will not let me access any of the data on it.

Can anyone tell me how to change this.

OS - Widows XP no SP2

Read only would let you access but not change the data. Broke is what you have.
