When I uploaded my website to the server, I inadvertently uploaded it to the root directory of my server site, instead of to the public_html directory. Files must be in the public_html directory to be accessible to the public. When I realized what I'd done, I selected the site folders in the server window and moved them to the public_html directory. Now the website works fine, but alas, GoLive still thinks all the files are in the root directory on the server, and instructions to upload modified files are unsuccessful, as GoLive simply uploads them to where they used to be.

OK, I made a dumb mistake. How do I fix it?

Go to menu item Site -> Publish Server -> Settings

You should see all the ftp settings GoLive is using to upload your web site. In the Directory text field enter "/public_html/" withouth the quotes. Golive will then automatically place your site files where there supposed to be.
