Hi,
Is there an equivalent function in MySQL that performs the equivalent First function in MS Access??

If not, then what's the alternative?

What does the FIRST function in Microsoft Access do?

A pirate walks into a bar with a huge ship's steering wheel down his pants.
The bartender asks, "Are you aware that you have a steering wheel down your pants?"
The pirate replies, "Arrrrr! It's driving me nuts!

The First function acts similar to the DISTINCT statement, I suppose. If your query returns multiple records, including say patient Age at each follow-up visit, then you can order by age and just get the first record of each multiple visit (if that's what you wanted). I think I can do the same thing with a SELECT DISTINCT ... ORDER BY statement.

Thanks Peter.
I had a GROUP BY query and it works fine! Pity we can't give a raspberry for unhelpful posts.

What a jackass comment. Each of these people were trying to help you, which was pretty nice of them considering the lame question you posted. You won't be getting any help from me in the future.

I thought about letting that last post slide by but then I decided to comment.

I consider a one word reply such as "no" an unhelpful post. If you look at my profile you will see that I've been quite a dedicated member on this web site, far more than you in fact. I won't lose sleep at night knowing that I won't be getting any help from you in the future. Likewise I will note your name down in the back of my memory banks in case you need help with anything.

I apologise to anyone else for the off-topic post.
