First Fresh Installation 1

Simple question, simple answer be fine:

I'm a MSSQL guy for years now, I now want to try MySql with PHP, since it's more interesting budget wise. And I also like the fact that everyone is helping it's developpement.

So as a beginner:
1. Is it best to install on a linux server (which I never install, but would like to try)

2. Install on Windows XP Pro (if it's possible?)
3. Install on Windows Nt xxxx

Both MySQL and PHP can be installed on any of the three platforms.

In terms of MySQL, there is no real difference in functionality in installations on the different systems.

PHP is a different matter. There is functionality available to PHP on unix-like OSes that is not available on Win32. Also, it's a lot easier on unix-like OSes to compile the third-party libraries PHP uses to do some of its interesting things.
