Firewire problem.

Hi all, quick query for you all.

Got a new Dell and put my oldish firewire card into it for my SONY camcorder (to use with AVID editing software). When I plug the camcorder into the firewire card it makes the 'connected' noise and then straight away gets the 'disconnect' noise. So it knows it was there but then disappears straight away. I've heard of some issues with SP2 and firewire camcorders but can't find anything on the web.

Any ideas ?
