I was pondering the pros and cons of loading a firewall feature set on my 1605r. The router is currently running IOS ver 12.2 has 24 megs of ram and 4 megs of flash.
First of all how well will this router perform running a firewall on my home network. Secondly how much do I have to gain from the firewall? My understanding is that the fw feature set offers SPI, intrusion logging and monitoring. Is the SPI valuable how much does it differ from nat with acl. I don’t have major security concerns it really is more of learning opportunity for me. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
