Hi,
I have some web support staff internally using FireFox 1.0.7 which is casuing me some problems, although they do need to use it. In IE I simply locked it down via GPO and could set proxy, homepage etc.

I have downloaded & tried to use the FireFox.adm from SourceForge (WetDog.exe) and FrontMotion with any success. The settings seem to apply locally as I can see them in the registry but something is stopping FF from using them..

Does anyone have any reg hacks or vbs logon scripts I could look at to acheive this. All I really need to do is force fireFox to use a proxy & prevent users from changing this..

Kind regards
G

Hi, update in anyones interested!

Have resolved this short term by only allowing http/s access from the LAN proxy server through the firewall. Not the best way to work but it does the job. Still looking for any scripts to further lockdown FireFox if anyone has them?

Cheers

IIRC, the Firefox ADM stuff only applies to Deer Park (aka 1.5 beta.) If you really need to use it, either your users will need to upgrade to 1.4 (which is beta code) or you'll need to wait another 3-6 months for 1.5

Nice one, thanx for the response...
Is there really no way then to control the browser, even through reg edits?
Cheers

The only thing Firefox 1.0.x uses the registry for is to store a couple of paths. All the settings you are looking to change are located in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profile\<profilename>\prefs.js
