Firebox X2500 Keeps dropping connection and Resetting

Help Please!

My Firebox X2500 is on Sys Mgr 7.3 and has all hotfixes applied. We have been getting alot of DOS attacks and space probes on one of the Fireboxes, whilst the other is fine and very stable. Setup is a Standard BOVPN connected to another site via Static IP's, both run via an IPSEC secured tunnel with Tripple Des encryption, to enable access to the private networks.

Since the attacks, the main Firebox (DVCP Server) has been very unstable even though I have enabled Stop Syn flods, IP Probes etc. The VPN and firewalls used to work perfectly, but since these attacks, both VPN and Firewall are suffereing.

When the Box resets, it somtimes comes back of its own accord or just completely hangs, and kills all connections. although it still responds to a ping request via IP, when this happens?

Does anyone have any ideas as WG support dont seem to have any real ideas.

have you tried to take the system back to factory defaults and start over with new software?

I had similar problems when the fan on my firebox died and it overheated and finally died. a few months back they had a recall on some of their cpu fans. you may want to check on this to see if your firebox was effected

also how hot is the room that you have the firebox in? this too may be causing the firebox to overheat

not sure if this is the issue these are just issues that I have had

It was the IPSec tunnels. I had the timing out too early, and with the volume of data being shunted down the VPN tunnel, they were not re-negotiating quickly enough and the link was dropping.
