I'm not really sure whether this is the correct forum to post this question but I hope somebody here would be able to help me.

My friends and I plan to make a system that uses a fingerprint scanner for security purposes. My question is: Is Visual Basic suitable for such system/software? If not, can somebody recommend what programming language we should use?

And if indeed this is the wrong forum, please direct me where I should go. Thanks^^

Reall depends on the hardware you use and what API's they provide. There is no reason why VB can't handle interfacing to these systems as long as they have the API's

Could you just clarify what the scanner is to do? Is the finger print to authorise the user for "login" purposes or for some other function?

If you are aiming to replace the "logon" box with a finger print scanner then I am afraid that VB will not work.

However, if you are wanting to use the scanner to, for example, identify someone in a time clock type of application then, subject to what SemperFiDownUnda has already said, VB willbe fine
